Biografia

Born Edward F. T. Charfauros on August 3, 1976 to Lourdes T. and Felix E. Charfauros in San Diego, CA. Raised in the county of San Diego until the age of 20 as the oldest of two boys. Edward received the name Chozen in gang affiliation during his early teen years for his tenacity, uncunniness, and fighting spirit. He joined the United States Navy Submarine Service as a mess management specialist (MS) for an obligation of four years. He moved to Great Lakes Illinois to attend Navy boot camp training for a period of eight weeks as an E1 in rank. Upon graduating as an E2 in October 1996, Edward was then transferred on "permanent change of station (PCS) orders" to Navy submarine school New London Connecticut. There he spent a period of 13 weeks for training and education. Graduating in the last class of 1996 in December he then received PCS orders to transfer to San Antonio, TX. There he attended Navy mess management specialist "A" school for a period of eight weeks. Upon graduating he received pcs orders to transfer to San Diego, CA to station onboard the Los Angeles 688 class fast attack submarine USS La Jolla (SSN 701). on May 10, 1997 after dating his high school sweetheart of three years finally wedded Catherine Oscares on Mother's Day. Tragedy struck soon after when his Mother at the age of 49 passed away (died) in bed asleep while at home on September 25, 1997. He immediately handled all funeral arrangements alone seeking financial assistance through the Navy relief society, and receiving advise from immediate relatives. Edward there after made rank of E3 within the same time frame of pregnating his wife. A couple of months later the couple was informed of the expectancy of a baby boy. Not soon after he then started his first six month deployment. During the five months while on deployment Edward earned the rank of E4 from the Navy MS exam for Petty Officer third class (PO4). Soon after he qualified 688 class submarines and earned his submarine warfare pin, "his dolphins." This warfare pin signifies that Edward has earned his right to join the ranks of thousands of Navy submariners of the past and present as a qualified submariner in Navy history. During his travels within the Navy Edward has traveled to numerous countries such as Hong Kong China, Japan, Guam, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Panama, and South Korea. Nearly completing his first deployment he arrived in Hawaii for his first time in March 1998. The expected delivery date of his first new born baby boy was in April. The command granted his request for leave of absence to depart from obligation early to fly home in time to bare witness to the birth of his only child. Ian (Eye-Un) Alu O. Charfauros was born April 7, 1998 weighing 7 lbs and 4 ouncs. A healthy half Filipino and Chamorro baby boy. Shortly after the baby's arrival the USS La Jolla was transferred to the Portsmouth Naval shipyards located in Portsmouth New Hampshire for repairs and maintenance. Edward moved to Kittery Maine alone as the couple agreed not to fly their only son over a long period of flight at such an infant age. Six months later Edward moved his family for the first time, and Catherine's first time away from family for a period of 22 months. In September 2000, Edward transferred back to San Diego, CA. He was stationed at Navy base Point Loma for a period of three years. During those three years he legally seperated in March 2003 from his wife of six years and a relationship of nine years. He transferred shortly after on pcs orders to another 688 class submarine USS Columbus (SSN 762) stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI. A few weeks later started his second six month deployment. Shortly after completing deployment in April. In June a good friend, Walter Dabu who was introduced by another close friend, Arnold Abaigar prior to Edward's deployment was in need of assistance and support. At the time, Walt was one of two photographers for www.ImportCulture.com. A website that provides the fans of the import car culture an insight and up to date news of events around the nation in and around the race and car show scene. The first photographer was being transferred to Naval air station Lemoore California on Navy pcs orders. Edward and Walt one night in May 2004 were discussing over cell phone communications the need of another staff photographer for ImportCulture.com to represent Hawaii. Edward volunteered and days after Walt approved and accepted by taking him under his supervision and training. In June 2004, Edward purchased his second digital, but first professional Canon Rebel camera at the price of $945.00 at the main Navy Exchange located on Pearl Harbor Hawaii. Shortly after Edward was given responsibilty on club scene event coverage as representative in Hawaii for www.ImportCulture.com. To begin with what he has become to be known for in the present. In August 2004, the USS Columbus was shortly transferred to Puget Sound Naval shipyard for repairs and maintenace. Edward transferred to Bremerton Washington this time for only a period of four months to close the galley (kitchen), and completely remove all food items onboard. In October, Edward partnered with Jason Mun and Allan Cunanan as a digital photographer to represent Hawaii for www.EnvizionModels.net. In December 2004 he transferred to another fast attack submarine the USS Key West (SSN 722) also stationed out of Peal Harbor, HI. He then joined the www.IslandHunnies.com photography staff, and in January 2005 joined the www.BabeBlvd.com staff as an event photographer. Well, just a glimpse of the man you have come to known as Chozen! The past is history, and seconds now create the future. This is how I ended up in Hawaii, and how I became a photographer.
